New Facebook Page

My lattest blog is about a climber going in to the Seward Range. Pictures from the top of the world. Face book mania has struck Tupper Lake so I'm moving my post to my Business page.

The races will start at 11 a.m. with registration starting at 10 a.m. Pre-registration packets are available at Guide Boat Realty, 191 River St., Saranac Lake, 518-891-1144 or at the Saranac Lake area Chamber of Commerce office, 518-891-1990.

There will be prize money of $100 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place and a bonus: $100 for the fastest traditional guideboat.

Hiking Trail conditions

Picture above is of Cascade Falls taken 4-22-08. At that time the trail was very muddy with lots of fallen tree and branches but the crew was in there cutting them back. Also the beaver were active on the falls end of the lake so it will continue to be quite wet back there.
Had a great climb up Panther Mt. on 4-28-08. Encounter a little mud near summit. Otherwise the trail is great. Ice storm damage minimal compared to other trails I've been on this month. Unfortunately I did not bring my camera. You could tell how high the water is by the width of the Saranac river. I don't believe i had seen it so wide from that view before!

I recieved this E-mail today from a lovely couple who came to do some winter exploring.

Staying at the Park Place Motel was so peaceful and yet so exciting, I want to thank our hosts as they were so kind to let us borrow their snow shoes. What an experience! Having the ability to walk on top of the deepest of snow was so neat, and it was the first time for the both of us. I have stayed at the Park Place before and definitely will stay there again, they are the best! Thank you Maggie and the Mr.(sorry I didn't catch his name), we both really had fun.
See photos of their adventure!
